DECEMBER, 2012 UPDATE - The electric sites can now be reserved on www.recreation.gov
We stayed in the trailer section of Flamingo Campground. All sites are very long pull through sites with plenty of room on both sides between you and your neighbor. There are no hookups. You can run your generator from 8 am until 8 pm. There is a dump station in the campground with fresh water to fill your holding tank. There are two bath houses with toilets and cold showers. We had a grill at our site. There were plenty of empty sites in early December. Bring everything you need with you. It is a long way to the nearest store in Homestead. Flamingo suffered a lot of damage from Hurricane Wilma in 2005. There are boat rentals and boat tours available at the marina.
January, 2012 UPDATE
We returned to Flamingo in January, 2012. There are now 40 electric sites that are first come, first served. We arrived early in the afternoon and got the last electric site! The trailer section of the campground was almost full.
This is one of our favorite campgrounds. Click favorite to read more about it.

General Coffee State Park, Nichols, GA Site 37 11/1/2009
General Coffee State Park is located halfway between Nichols and Douglas, Georgia. There are beautiful trees throughout the park. Most of the sites are dirt pull throughs with water and electric only. There is a fire pit and picnic table at each site. The dump station is conveniently located as you leave the park. We were not able to get DirecTV satellite because of the trees. Walmart, restaurants and other shopping are located in nearby Douglas.
General Coffee is a beautiful, quiet park and we enjoyed the campground and would recommend it to anyone with an RV 35 feet or smaller. Many of the sites would be hard to get into with a larger RV. The road through the park and especially through the campground is very tight in places because of trees close to the road.
Amenities: Water and Electric

Grant River COE, Potosi, WI Site 21 8/20/2009
This is a very popular park and was full when we were there. The park has some sites that can be reserved and some non reservable that are first-come first-served. We had one of the last non reservable sites. Petosi is a very small town with a brewery and nice restaurant. It is the catfish capital of Wisconsin. There is a small grocery store in Petosi. Wal Mart and other grocery stores are in nearby Dubuque.

Sunset Isle RV Park, Cedar Key, FL Site 19 2/15/09
Sunset Isle's location is perfect for visiting Cedar Key. We really enjoyed our stay here. Some sites are waterfront but even if you are not directly on the water you can still walk out on one of the docks. The name of the campground says it all - you can see a beautiful sunset from the docks. You might also be lucky enough to see some beautiful birds right off the docks. The owners are very nice and helpful. The sites are kind of tight but we had plenty of room for our tow vehicle and to put the slides out. There is a very nice club house with a fireplace. Some nights you might be lucky enough to hear an impromptu jam session. Our site was full hookup with cable. WiFi is available at the office. Cedar Key is a birder's paradise. We enjoyed going out on Captain Doug's Tidewater Tours.
