KOA Harpers Ferry, WV 6/19/08

This is a very popular KOA with resort amenities. There is a huge outdoor pool, game room, exercise room, and meeting facilities. There are a lot of RV campsites, tent sites and cabins. Make reservations if you want to be here on a weekend - it was just about full when we were here. The closest shopping is about 7 miles away in Charlestown, WV with a Wal Mart, Food Lion and fast food. The campground had a very large and nice laundry. We had WiFi at our site.

Ferryboat Campsites, Liverpool, PA 6/17/08

Waterfront campsites on the Susquehanna River with an operating ferry. Large back-in sites on the river or pull throughs with water views. A nice campground right on US35. We stayed during the week and there were plenty of sites available. It seems to be a very popular weekend destination.

Golden Hill State Park, Barker, NY 6/15/08

This park is a well kept secret and I hesitate to write about it. We loved this park! There are long, level waterfront pull through sites with water and electric. Some of the sites even have a lighthouse view.

Niagara Falls KOA, Ontario 6/12/08

There are plenty of long pull through sites for big rigs. The site was fairly level with some shade. This KOA had lots of amenities - 2 outdoor pools, an indoor pool, 2 hot tubs and a sauna, and playgrounds. We chose this campground because of the convenience to the Canadian side of Niagara Falls. It is also easy to get to the American side of Niagara Falls from here. There are restaurants in the area and a Wal Mart close by. There is a nice laundry on site and the rest rooms were very clean. WiFi at site.

Muskegon State Park, North Muskegon, MI 6/9/08 - 6/10/08

This popular Michigan State park has two campgrounds - the Lake Michigan campground and the Channel campground. We stayed in the Channel campground on the channel connecting Lake Michigan and Lake Muskegon. The sites are electric only level paved pads. Water spigots are located throughout the campground but cannot be used to fill your fresh water tank. Be sure to fill your fresh water tank at the sanitary station before setting up camp. We had a long pull through site close to the channel. Sites 8 and 9 are long pull throughs and very wide. The campground is wooded with lots of shade. The bath houses were very clean.

We made the reservations by phone with the Michigan State Parks. Reservations are site specific. You can go to their website for campground maps and site descriptions.

The State Park is located about 6 or 7 miles from the town of North Muskegon where there are grocery stores, a pharmacy, and a gas station with diesel.

Elkhart Campground, Elkhart, Indiana 6/8/08

Elkhart, Indiana is a popular area for RV'ers with many RV manufacturers and service centers in the area. This large park had plenty of big pull-through sites. The grass full hookup site was fairly level. There was a very nice laundry room and WiFi at site.
The campground is conveniently located near several restaurants and shopping areas. The manager was very helpful with directions. South Bend and Notre Dame are located about 15 miles away.

Sun Valley Campground, Chillicothe, OH 6/6/08 - 6/7/08

We really liked the park and bad weather where we were going helped us decide to spend 2 nights instead of just 1.
This park is located 2 miles off of US 35 just west of Chillicothe. We had a pull through with W/E. The gravel site was level. Henry was able to get the satellite set up.

This small, family owned campground has a pond for swimming and fishing (catch and release). It is located about 6 miles from a Super Wal-Mart in Chillicothe.

Pipestem State Park, Pipestem, WV 6/1/08 - 6/5/08

We made Pipestem our home base for exploring southern West Virginia. We had a full hookup site. Yes, there are full hookups in some state parks! The site was a pull through with a fairly level paved pad. The pull through was not very wide or very long and would be a tight fit for rigs much longer than ours. The picnic table was on a gravel pad. The campground is wooded so there is plenty of shade.
Pipestem is a resort park with 2 lodges, indoor pool and a golf course.

Fleetwood RV Racing Camping Resort, Concord, NC - 5/31/08

We spent one night at the Fleetwood RV Racing Camping Resort in Concord, NC. The RV park is located right next to the Lowe's Motor Speedway. We could hear the cars from the driving school driving around the track.

The sites are all gravel with no shade. The sites are long enough for big rigs and wide enough for slides. They are all back-ins and fairly level. The RV park is easy to get to from I-85 and just a little out of the way from I-77. It is convenient to shopping and restaurants.

2010 UPDATE - The name of the campground has changed to Tom Johnson Camping Racing Resort. We stayed here again in May, 2010.
