6/7/2010 Itasca State Park, Park Rapids, MN Site 66

The headwaters of the Mississippi River are located in Itasca State Park. The park also has biking and hiking trails, boat rentals, a wildlife drive, a museum, and two campgrounds. Our site was in the Bear Paw campground. We had a back-in site with electric only near a water spigot. Be sure to fill your freshwater tank at the dump station before setting up. We had a view of Lake Itasca from our site. This is a very popular campground so be sure to make reservations. This is a great state park with a lot to keep everyone busy having fun.

UPDATE ON ITASCA STATE PARK: We stayed here again in June, 2011 in the Pine Ridge Campground. The site was a long back in with lots of room on either side of the site. The bath houses were very clean. We would recommend either of the campgrounds. We enjoyed them both.

6/5/2010 Temperance River State Park, Schroeder, MN, Site 23

Temperance River SP is a beautiful state park on Minnesota's North Shore. Our site was a large, wide back in with electric only. We were close to a water spigot. Stop and fill your fresh water tank before setting up. Our site was on top of a bluff above Lake Superior. Right next to our site was a path leading down to the lake. We used the campground as a base for exploring the area. There are lots of pull outs on the road and lots of trails in the area. There is no dump station in the park but there is one located about 20 miles south of the park. The rangers were very helpful.

Amenities: Lake Superior, trails, electric at the site

Would we stay here again?  YES

6/3/2010 Porcupine Mountains SP, Silver City, MI, Union Bay Campground Site 25

Porcupine Mountains State Park is a beautiful state park located on Lake Superior. We had a back in site right on Lake Superior - you can see the lake behind our 5'er in the picture at left. We had electric only at the site. There was a water spigot close by to fill our water jugs. Be sure to fill your fresh water tank before setting up. There is a dump station on the way out of the park. There are hiking trails in the park. We loved it here.

Amenities: Lake front sites, electric at the site

6/1/2010 Clementz Northcountry Campground, Newberry, MI Site 9

Clementz Northcountry Campground is a Passport America Park in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. We stayed in a full-hookup site for 2 nights. The Passport America rate doesn't apply to full-hookup sites but we were ok with that. The owners were very nice and helpful. We had a long pull through site on the end of the row so we had plenty of room. There was a fire pit and picnic table at the site. There was a nice laundry room and WI-FI available at the office. We used the campground a a home base to visit Tahquamenon Falls State Park and Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore.

Amenities:  Full-Hookups, laundry, WI-FI

Would we stay here again?  YES
