This state park is located about 15 miles from the Great Sand Dunes National Monument. Our site was a large dirt and gravel pull through with covered picnic table and fire pit. There is electric only at the site. You have to fill your fresh water at one of the water spigots located throughout the campground. The water had a funky smell. We didn't have reservations so we picked our site and then registered at the office. The rangers were very helpful. From our campsite we had views of the lake, the Sangre de Christo mountains, and the Great Sand Dunes. We did not use the bath houses so we can't comment on them. The dump station is conveniently located on the way out of the campground.
The views from the campground are beautiful. There is a nice lake in the park and a boat ramp. It is a short drive to visit the Great Sand Dunes National Monument. The nearest grocery store is about 15 miles away.
