Canal Campground, Grand Rivers, Kentucky Site 90 8/13/09

Canal Campground is a large, Corps of Engineers park located on Lake Barkley in the Land Between the Lakes. Our site was a large, level back in site with water and electric. The dump station is easy to get to on the way out of the park. We were able to get DirecTV Satellite tv. We had a nice view of the lake. The bath houses were clean. The campground is easy to get to from I-24 and very convenient to the scenic drive through the Land Between the Lakes. There is a grocery store in Grand Rivers and a Wal Mart and other grocery stores located in nearby towns.

UPDATE ON CANAL CAMPGROUND: We returned to Canal on June 22, 2011. We were in site 45, a long, wide, paved back in site with water and electric. There was lots of room between the sites. Site 45 has lots of trees and shade.

Cave Country RV Park Cave City, KY 11/10/2008

Cave Country RV Park is a nice big-rig friendly park just off of the interstate. All the sites were large, gravel level pull throughs with full hookups. We stayed here for a visit to Mammoth Cave. It is located about 10 miles from the entrance to the national park and there are several restaurants including a Cracker Barrel within walking distance. The owner was very nice and helpful. Our dog really enjoyed being able to run off leash in the large fenced in dog walk area.

The only negative about this park would be the train track that runs right behind the park. We like the sound of the train but some people may not enjoy it.

Kentucky Horse Park Lexington, KY Site 159 11/6/08

The Kentucky Horse Park Campground is a beautiful state park just north of Lexington. Our site was a level, paved back in with a huge grassy area behind the site. The sites have water and electric, with no sewer at the site but there are two dump stations. After November 1 there is no water at the site so we only had electric while we were there. The laundry room and bath houses were very clean.
